POSTEC has been involved in several international projects for standardization of test equipment. One example is the standardization of the use of the Jenike tester carried out by the EFCE Working Party on the Mechanics of Particulate Solids, WPMPS, resulting in the famous SSTT, the European Standard Shear Testing Technique. This was later followed up with a standardized test material, CRM 116, which can be bought from the EU office for standardization, BCR. The SSTT later also was the model for the corresponding ASTM for Jenike testing. Further work on standardization of other equipment for flow property testing was initiated about 10 years ago, but was unfortunately terminated before any conclusions could be made.
New ways of characterization of powders by means of the uniaxial tester are being elaborated.
