Pneumatic conveying research activities

We have been involved in many industrial and fundamental research and development activities within the pneumatic conveying field during the last 25 years. Some of our major activities are listed below:

  • System design and optimization using a scaling-up technique
    • After an extensive scientific research program conducted at POSTEC, a computer based simulation program which is based on a scaling-up technique has been developed.
  • On-line non-intrusive mass flow measurement
    • Based on the scaling up model, we have formulated a technique to measure mass flow rate in pneumatic conveying pipelines. This technique is completely non-intrusive and simple to implement. One can see the mass flow rate of solids passing through a concerned section in real time frame ("on-line").
  • Feasibility tests of different products for pneumatic conveying
  • Control system for pneumatic conveying
  • Determination of the influence of material characteristics on transport characteristics.
  • Use multivariate data analysis technique in mass flow measurement
  • Investigation of material degradation during pneumatic transport
  • Erosion of pipe components: POSTEC has developed a test method and a new erosion tester, which can measure the erosion rate on-line, by changing the angle of impact and solids particle velocity.
  • Vertical air-lift: the effect of operating conditions on the conveying capacity, particle velocity, and the pipeline pressure drop is investigated.
  • Bulk tank design
